One word: Scary!! Cece and I arrive at the job fair in the dumping snow dressed to impress. Driving there, we are guessing that since it is "off season" no one will be there, everyone will be wanting to hire us the second we walk in, etc. Not the case. As we pull into the parking lot, we notice there are no parking places and we are probably the only two girls there with heels on. One guy walking in is sucking down his cig as fast as he can before he goes and interviews. As we walk in the door, we realize every other unemployed person is at the job fair as well. The place is a madhouse. Everyone applying from the graveyard snowmaking shift to cute cocktail servers are there. Cece and I get in our respective lines and prepare to be employed on the spot. Its been a week and we are still waiting......
After the fair, we go to J bar at Hotel Jerome for the "best bloody mary in the US." Thanks Coco!! Absolutely delic! After our rough day job hunting, we stay at the bar and wait for my dad and Sam to arrive from Fort Worth on their way to Montana. While waiting, we make our first and only friend, Scott, at the J Bar. He seems nice and at least gives us a "locals" discount.
Finally, my dad arrives with a surprise, my mom in tow! We drop Sam off at our apt with devil dog (poor girl) and go to an amazing dinner at L'Hostaria, an Italian restaurant in downtown Aspen. The gnocchi was amazing!!
Considering Cece and I had been drinking for the majority of the afternoon, we went home, tucked the dogs in, and, of course, attempted to read our books.
If the J Bar could talk. Ended up there one New Years Eve after skiing Ajax all day. The champagne we had on top of the mountain was a bit much to handle as we skiied down. You should have seen me on Bachelor's Gulch on to Little Nells then straight to The Jerome...Bloody's...Mimosa's....then just champagne to midnight! It was a GREAT New Year's Eve!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Blog! I am glad yall are having a blast! Cant wait to visit!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMeeting Kelly Ann and Cece at the J Bar was a blast! They were very surprised! Kelly, (Sam) and I thought Aspen was more beautiful than we had heard. The Aspens were changing and the snow was fluttering down. Independence Pass was frightening but thank goodness no ice was involved. The mountains on the pass are like no other...absolutely amazing. Kelly Ann and Cece are going to have a great experience in Aspen. There is no competing with them...they are too precious! The only one trying to compete for a job was the girl in the purple jacket and she was no challenge! She needs to go back home to Damien!
